Looking to add a little excitement for the Mommy-to-be by throwing a surprise baby shower? It might sound like an impossible feat, but there are ways that you can make this special landmark occasion even more memorable. Like any other type of party, make sure that you only throw a surprise baby shower for a guest of honor who will appreciate the surprise. You should also never plan a baby shower for someone who says they don’t want a shower. There’s just no reason to push it, as she doesn’t need any more stress during this important time in her life.
Create a Guest List
The first step in throwing any good party is to make a guest list. Before you can reserve Boston area party venues, you will need to at least have a ballpark of the number of guests that will be in attendance. Many couples are now hosting co-ed baby showers. Once a celebration for women-only, many families are now inviting men and children to also attend.
Figure out how big you want the celebration to be for the baby shower in Southeastern Massachusetts and get a head count before you start shopping around for a venue. Include family, close friends, and possibly co-workers. Check with the Daddy-to-be for tips on who she might want to be included in the invitations, but swear him to secrecy!
Choosing a Reception Hall
The next step is to find a Milford party venue that will accommodate you and all of your guests. The Crystal Room is known for putting on beautiful weddings, but we also host bridal showers, birthday parties, anniversaries, retirement parties, corporate events, and baby showers.
Contact our on-site event coordinator to schedule a tour. Make sure to ask about any extra amenities or options that you need to make this a very special event for the parents-to-be. The Crystal Room can be used for small, medium, and large parties or celebrations, plus we have all of the audio visual technology and additional options that you could ever want for your big party.
Contact the Guests Personally
Never send out an official invitation to a surprise party, unless you want the guest of honor to find out about it in advance. Stories about people leaving invitations out where they could be seen, tacking one to the refrigerator or pinning it on the family schedule board are just some of the ways that invitations can be accidentally be found by the Mommy-to-be.
Your best bet is to contact everyone in-person, either over the phone or face-to-face. While this may be difficult with co-workers and people you don’t know personally, but you can get all of the contact information you need from family members, best friends, and the Daddy-to-be in advance. Make sure to give guests enough time to make plans and be very clear that this is a secret not to be discussed with the guest of honor.
In addition make sure to ask guests to:
- RSVP directly to you – provide cell phone and email contacts.
- NOT discuss the shower with anyone – not just the Mommy-to-be.
- REFRAIN from posting about the shower on social media, even the day of the party.
